ChanelGrabrielle Chanel "Coco", opened Chanel Modes in Paris in 1912 to market her hats. In 1914, she introduced clothing made of jersey. In 1921, she began to design accessories to go with her clothing. In 1929, she began to show jewelry as part of the total Chanel look. Chanel design has been a staple for many. In 1971 Coco died. In 1983 Karl Lagerfeld became designer for the house of Chanel.
