LisnerLisner (1904 - 1979) was a costume jewelry manufacturer and distributor. They operated under the name D. Lisner and Company in New York City until 1978 when they merged with Richelieu to become Lisner-Richelieu Corporation. In 1979 the corporation ceased production. During the 1930's Lisner was the authorized US agent for Elsa Schiaparelli. Lisner was also a wholesaler of jewelry and novelties. Early Lisner jewelry is unmarked. The block letter Lisner mark came into use during the mid-1930's; (some sources claim the block letter mark was not used until 1958). In 1938 the script Lisner was introduced. The 1950's and 1960's were the most prolific for Lisner. They marketed an extensive line of chrome or silver-plated jewelry set with molded plastic geometric and organic shapes. They made necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and pins aimed at the medium to lower-priced costume jewelry market similar to Coro jewelry, although some Lisner pieces are very high quality and beautifully designed. Lisner pieces often have colorful rhinestones including aurora borealis stones. They also used colorful molded plastic shapes sometimes accented with rhinestones.
